You’re interested in encapsulating your placenta but not sure where to go from here. The steps below detail what you can expect from start to finish, from the first inquiry to final product in your hands.
I will provide you with the information you need to safely store your placenta at the hospital, talk with your provider, take your finished pills for the most benefit, and more. You have enough on your plate bringing your baby into this world; let me handle the placenta preparation and help you ease into a smooth, healthy postpartum.
-
Submit your interest
Once you submit the form letting me know you’re ready to preserve your placenta, I will reach out to confirm details.
-
Join the portal
I’ll send an invite over to my client portal where you can sign the contract, fill out some intake info, make payments, and keep all documents in one central place.
-
Update your team
Once you’ve decide to preserve your placenta, be sure to let your birth team know. Put it in your birth plan, tell your midwife/doctor, and have it put in your medical chart - this way it won’t get lost in the excitement of birth.
-
Pack your bags
Along with your hospital bags, you’ll need a small personal cooler and a couple of gallon+ Ziploc bags to keep your placenta safely on ice until pickup.
-
It's birth day!
Remind your team of your plans to save your placenta once you get to your birthing location. Some hospitals require a signed release for you to take it from the premises. If possible, please send me a quick text to let me know it’s birthing time once you’re settled in.
-
Pickup
Once baby is here, it is your responsibility to keep your placenta safely stored until pickup. Send me a text (between 9a-9p) to let me know the placenta is ready to be picked up. I will either pick it up or meet your designated drop-off person at an agreed-upon time. Any unpaid balance is also due at this time.
-
Preparation and encapsulation
I begin by sanitizing all work spaces before diligently inspecting your placenta to ensure it is safe for consumption. Each placenta is processed one at a time in a dedicated work space, following all OSHA bloodborne pathogen and food service requirements.
